Hwy 3, Atoka County, Oklahoma (Koss #831)
Completed in the Summer of 2009, this project is located in Southern Atoka County, Oklahoma.
The project consisted of grading, drainage, bridge & surfacing on SH-3. The improvement began approximately two miles East of Atoka and extended East 2.609 miles to near the town of Lane, Oklahoma. The new alignment of the eastbound lanes consisted of new embankment with twelve inches of aggregate base over separator fabric. The new pavement was twelve inches thick also. Once the new lanes were complete, the existing westbound lanes were milled and a one inch overlay completed to provide a new driving surface. Several obstacles were encountered during the construction of this project but the most memorable was the inches upon inches of rain that fell during the course of building this job. Mother Nature finally gave us a break and the project was finished to the satisfaction of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
