Hwy 6, Greer County, Oklahoma (Koss #948)
Completed in the Spring of 2011, this project is located in Greer County, Oklahoma approximately one mile North of Granite, OK. The project consisted of some light grading, stabilization with Cement Kiln Dust (CKD) & asphalt surfacing on SH-6 to add a new Southbound lane and crossovers. The improvement began approximately one mile North of Granite and extended North 3.566 miles. The grade for the new Southbound lanes was previously built on another ODOT contract. Koss moved equipment in and began setting stringline, trimming and stabilizing on the project in early March, 2011. The hot mix plant moved in during the month of March as well and began production in early April. During the month of March, approximately 100,000 SY of CKD stabilized subgrade was completed. The hot mix plant started production in early April and by early May had completed approximately 51,000 ton of HMA to the satisfaction of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. It has been recommended that this project be nominated for an award for the best State Highway section in Oklahoma for 2011.
