US Hwy 59, Delaware County, Oklahoma (Koss #930)
US Highway 59, south of Sailboat Bridge over The Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees, was once a narrow, stop and go roadway leading through “Green Country” and into Grove, OK, a very popular and well-renowned resort community in the northeastern corner of the Sooner state. This is not the case any more. In 2009, Koss Construction Company completed a much needed and anticipated widening and resurfacing project that turned this two lane congested highway into an efficient four-lane corridor with a continuous center left turn lane, facilitating access to local businesses that thrive on summer tourism. It required a conscious, coordinated effort between both the Asphalt and Concrete Divisions, quality subcontractors and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to place nearly 75,000 tons of HMA, slip form 33,000 lineal feet of curb and gutter, pave 40,400 SY of concrete sidewalk and driveways, install 175 light poles and construct a new curb inlet and storm sewer system.
